CLICK on the MARK you're interested in or SCROLL DOWN for more information
1. THE FERRY BOAT
Bass can be caught from the surf over East
Winner bank particularly on spring tides, otherwise Flounder and Mackerel
dominate from the very fast moving current in the harbour entrance. A small
running-leger cast uptide and allowed to drift round will usually pick up shoal
Bass. The major problem here is drifting weed.

2. THE INN-ON-THE-BEACH
Long steep shingle beach gives way
to sand after 10 yards or so. A long cast with a wishbone rig will pick up nice
Plaice in Spring, otherwise expect Bass year round particularly after a 'blow'
to Limpet baits. Sole can be caught on a low rising tide particularly after
dark.

3. THE COAST-GUARD STATION

Steep shelving shingle punctuated by groynes - try dropping your bait
alongside or at the ends. A favoured spot by locals as deep water can be found
within easy casting range - hope for Plaice, Flounder and Bass.

4. EASTOKE
Recent sea defense work has
ruined the beach but improved the fishing! Moderate current beyond the groynes
and deep water with a sand/stone sea-bed.

5. EASTOKE POINT
A quiet and improving mark due
to the recent addition of rocky groynes which trap food and provide a haven for
many species. The main channel with a deep very fast moving current runs just
beyond the groynes, between them it's moderate. Try a float rig or rolling leger
from the groynes into the main channel or between them for Bass and Codling. A
favourite spot is in front of the Sailing Club which also produces small Smooth hounds
and Black-Bream in summer.
