CRUSADER II
Skipper Steve Southern

22/09/07 : A nice neap tide so managed to fish a deep water mark near to St Catherine`s Point, we caught a few Bullhuss up to 8lb, just the 1 Bass at 6lb, around 15 Congers, the biggest was 32lb.

08/09/07 : Had a party of 7 of which only 2 turned up, (this is why skippers need to get deposits) good news for me as there's room for me to get a rod out. As it was a bit of a neap tide we went round towards Ventnor and fished a mark which produced 8 Bullhuss between the three of us, the biggest around the 8 lb mark and I caught a 25lb Conger, not big but on slack water it put up a good scrap as did the 2 bigger Bullhuss that we lost on the surface. Jason had the biggest of the Bullhuss along with a little lobster, when the tide turned we had a move and only landed two small Blonde Rays up to 9lb, the 5 that never turned up must be gutted.

11/08/07 : What a beautiful day another group of novices, struggled to get Mackerel from the start, struggled to get any fish at all, it was looking like my worst day this year. We moved in to Culver hoping to get some Bass but it can be hard work with novices who strike at the rod with the roll of the boat and bring it in no sooner then it hits the bottom, but still it was up to me to find them fish, so over the side went a rubby-dubby. Fingers crossed we got 2 small Bream and 3 Dogfish, 2 fish better then my worse day. Well on a slow day Dogfish make all the difference.

09/08/07 : Another fine day for the fishing party (all novice anglers) a few beers a couple of Thornback Rays and a 6lb bass for Andy and all went home happy.

05/08/07 : Fished back around the Nab in 70ft of water, slow start but the group were happy to wait for the tide to turn and sit it out, when it did turn there was a big run on Damien's rod and he was into a 10.5lb Bass then another rod went with a 16lb Blonde Ray, then Damian's went again with a 6.5lb Bass, then some Bream and Dogfish to end the day.
