Some of the best fishing marks locally are to be found off the West Sussex coast from Selsey Bill. Much of the sea-bed comprises of shallow chalk outcrops which is a hazard to shipping but provides excellent habitats for many species. Tidal movements throughout the area are fierce, particularly on large Springs, it is probably this and the clean channel waters that many species find attractive.
Unfortunately the same conditions that attract the fish, the rocky outcrops and fierce tidal movements, make it extremely hazardous for the inexperienced small boat angler. Whilst there are a few launch sites around Selsey Bill, most boats come from Chichester, Langstone and Portsmouth harbours which means a long sea journey so the weather needs to be good and your boat and crew fit for the job. Whilst there are no major shipping channels until you get a way offshore, vigilance is important as it's still part of the very busy English Channel.

Whilst every effort has been made to make the map as accurate as possible, it should only be regarded as a rough guide and not a substitute for a proper Admiralty chart.
